CFM International (Joint-venture between Safran Aircraft Engines and General Electrics ) A global leader in aircraft propulsion

CFM International, the 50/50 joint company between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE, develops, produces and markets the CFM56 engine and its successor, the LEAP. Created in 1974, the CFM International partnership has been renewed to 2050 and also extended to include services.

Our expertise

A unique partnership

The CFM56 and LEAP engines are the result of a long-standing 50/50 partnership between Safran Aircraft Engines and GE, via CFM International. The two companies take equal responsibility for design, development and production, with each partner handling final assembly, sales and support using its own resources.

LEAP: environmentally-friendly by design

The LEAP engine was designed from the outset to meet the challenge of decarbonizing air transport. It delivers improved performance to operators in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions (15% better than previous generation engines), NOx emissions and noise.

Comprehensive support

More than 28,000 CFM56 engines are now in service on both commercial and military airplanes. They enjoy global support based on a wide range of services covering the entire lifecycle: on-wing and shop maintenance, spare parts, repairs, asset management, etc.
