Position Title: Sustaining Engineer
Conduct engineering assignments including the design analysis and re-design of existing products and components to reduce product costs and improve quality. Maintain design control, production support, and customer and supplier support of existing products on as needed basis to assure growth of the business. Conduct manufacturing and industrial engineering assignments that continually drive improvement in manufacturing processes, tools and equipment to reduce cost and improve production yields.
•Plans product improvements and direction of resources to achieve operational performance goals for on time delivery, cost, quality, and productivity.
•Manages a focused cost reduction effort focused on year over year savings through operational improvements and re-design for cost reduction activity.
•Continually improves manufacturing processes and product and process documentation for sustaining products, and new product development including tooling and equipment.
•Evaluates the use of non-conforming parts, processes and assemblies to determine their usability in the end product and ensuring that the quality and functionality of the product will be maintained.
•Evaluates obsolete materials, parts and components and finds suitable replacement and ensuring that functionality of the product will be maintained.
•Establishes solid models, drawings, and sketches that convey sufficient and accurate information to inform, produce, assemble, & test product re-designs.
•Trains production associates in the proper process methods and use of tooling and equipment.
•Analyzes effect of cost reduction activities as they relate to total product costs, to operating costs, needed capital expenditures, or other manufacturing costs.
•Establishes factory cost, tooling and equipment estimates to provide preliminary cost reduction justification and prepare Capital Appropriation Requests to support implementation.
•Acts as a key member in supporting and resolving 8D problem solving investigations.
•Regular, predictable attendance is required.

•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in from an accredited institution.
•At least one year experience as an engineer.
•Ability to perform detailed tasks such as dimensional and statistical analysis .
•Solid understanding of the electrical and mechanical properties of engineering materials.
•Technical communication skills (verbal, written, and computer).
•Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts, Six Sigma tools and 8D problem solving tools.
•Broad knowledge of fabrication, assembly and test processes, tooling, and equipment.
•Ability to provide component, assembly, tooling, and equipment cost estimates.
•Proficient at PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
•Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in from an accredited institution.
•Ability to handle multiple projects with conflicting schedules and priorities while maintaining cross-organizational support to complete tasks.
•Understands electrical theory as it relates to product requirements.
•Ability to be creative and innovative.
•Good presentation skills.
•Effective project and time management skills.
Sitting 70% / Standing 20% / Walking & lifting 10%
Split between office work and working on the shop floor and in the Testing Laboratory with production and testing technicians.
