Safran, for its Electronic & Defense division, is looking for a Materials Control Manager in Irvine, CA.
Summary of Job Purpose:
Materials Control Manager oversee the inventory levels of all business units of Safran SEDA. To lead a team of inventory, purchasing and planning employees by influencing their decision making through evaluating current inventory positions before ordering the new inventory. Manage materials inventory, prioritizing cycle count requirements. Lead a team of inventory specialist to support compliance and factory material needs.
2) Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage inventory records for assets off-site at customers and suppliers, as well as on-site including maintenance performed in MRO and OEM facilities
Managing E & O inventory, by leading teams through continuous improvements and materials aging reductions
Set-up and participate in daily cycle counting methods and conduct annual physical inventory count, and identify corrections
Assist the Business Segment Managers (BSM) in the scope of work for each aircraft LRU's & SRU's teardown and repairs
Issue reports as requested and take accountability for inventory accuracy, and providing RCCA
Participate in continuous improvements suggestions and root cause's corrective actions for all inventory warehouses, i.e. raw materials, work in process, and finished goods locations
Act as the primary liaison and create a positive relationship with the employees across all functional groups involved in inventory positions
Assist in coordinating and managing the business expectations of contracted parties
Keep records of issues, problems and opportunities for improvement
Establish and maintain a quality inventory system that is cost-effective, timely and provides adequate supplies to support Safran's diverse type of businesses, MRO aftermarket and OEM
Ensure that all stock items are identified, controlled, segregated, preserved and stored in accordance with accepted Safran standard procedures
Manage parts transactions ensuring company and regulatory policies and procedures are followed
Reduce the quantity of unused or obsolete inventory through appropriate resale method, as well as championing excess inventory reductions projects.
Embraces the vision, mission and core values of Safran SEDA Group facilities.
Analyzes product and supply levels to anticipate inventory problems and shortages.
Knowledge of financial accounting practices or experience with inventory counts.
Ability to scrutinize inventory levels and recommend adjustments.
Ability to work with other supply chain personnel.
Experience with management of inventory min/max levels.
Communicates with inventory employees to meet business goals and address personnel issues.
Develops business relationships with suppliers and clients.
Proposes strategies to reduce costs and improve procedures of supply chain logistics.
Monitors demand and analyzes data to anticipate future supply and logistical needs.
Reports on inventory levels, supply chain progress, procedural efficiency and personnel issues to upper management.
Takes initiative to help document processes, training, procedures, and otherwise help the efficiency of the department.
Manages the recruitment and training of new inventory employees.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, and perform other responsibilities as assigned
3) Required Competencies:
Education / Experience:
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 7 years of Supply Chain or Operational experience or 5 years of Inventory Control experience required, or combination of inventory, supply chain and accounting experience
Skills and Abilities, and Job Knowledge:
Experience executing and leading cycle counting, and when needed to conduct actual physical
on-site physical inventory count
Experience managing system differences and reconciliations
E & O inventory management, and materials aging reductions
Professional ability to influence other leaders within a fast-paced environment.
Strong systems skills (i.e. Excel, SAP)
Excellent Process orientation and problem-solving skillsets necessary. Detail-focused individual
Knowledge of procurement methods
Maintain sustainable relationships with suppliers
Knowledge of cycle count steps
Knowledge of hazardous Materials
Lean and Continuous Improvement (Kaizen), 5S
Knowledge of Safety rules

The position will require someone, who is self-motivated, has excellent organizational skills, can manage their time and schedule from a remote location, works well with team members, and manages vendor relationships
