Safran at the “Industrie Paris 2014” show
This year’s Industrie Paris show, hosted at the Paris Nord-Villepinte exhibition center (Seine Saint-Denis,) was the opportunity for Safran to promote its businesses, particularly in the areas of design, industrialization and manufacturing, but also advertise its recruitment needs for candidates with technical skills.More
Safran, who was the guest of honor this year, consequently displayed pieces that demonstrate its expertise in the aeronautic field: a scale-1 LEAP engine, a turbine blade, a turbine shaft and a CFM56 fan disk, an animated scale model of the Arrius helicopter engine, an A320 thrust reverser door and an A380 Inner Pylon*.
1,000 technicians sought for 2014
The show was also an opportunity for Safran to advertise its recruitment needs, particularly for candidates with technical skills: of the 2,500 new hires in France in 2014, about 1,000 concern technicians and line workers. These staff increases are notably being made to manage the ramp-up in production anticipated with the entry into service of the LEAP.
Representatives of Safran’s Human Resources Department and Industrial Department attending the show therefore particularly emphasized the importance of training technicians and line workers, as well as the need to place a higher value on technical studies (including vocational education and technical certificates). As the Vice President for Production at Safran, stated: “It is essential that young people with good abilities opt for technical courses. Opportunities exist and demand is strong and durable. Operating new generation machines is rewarding, both in terms of the work itself and the salary. We need to ensure that young people pursue technical careers by choice rather than by default.”
