First Boeing 737-900ER with Messier-Bugatti-Dowty wheels and carbon brakes enters into service with Turkish Airlines

The first Boeing 737-900ER (MSN 40973) fitted with Messier-Bugatti-Dowty (Safran group) wheels and carbon brakes is entering into service with Turkish Airlines. This higher-capacity, longer-ranger derivative of the 737-900 is also the first of this type to be operated by the Turkish national flag carrier.
Messier-Bugatti-Dowty carbon brakes reduce the weight of each 737-900ER by 770 pounds (350 kg) compared to conventional steel brakes, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The new brake also offers additional cost savings with a far greater endurance (2,200 landings per overhaul) and three times less maintenance.
Messier-Bugatti-Dowty offers a carbon brake that has been certified on all members of the Boeing 737 Next-Generation family (737-600, -700, -800, -900, -900ER and BBJ), as original equipment or retrofit. To date, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty has signed agreements to provide wheels and carbon brakes for 686 Boeing Next-Generation 737 jetliners.
