Safran names Olivier Savin Executive Vice President, Green Taxiing System Joint Venture

PRESS RELEASE

Paris, October 24, 2011

Olivier Savin, 44, has been named Executive Vice President, Green Taxiing* System Joint Venture in the Safran group. He reports to Yves Leclère, Executive Vice President for Transformation.

A graduate of SupDeCo (1989) and ICADE Madrid (1990), with a Management and Finance MBA, Olivier Savin joined the Safran group in 1992. He started at Messier Services, where he started as spare parts sales manager, before being named head of marketing, and then head of international joint ventures and subsidiaries. In 1998 he moved to Snecma Services, where he was named managing director of Snecma Morocco Engine Services, a CFM56 MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) specialist. In 2002 he became general manager of the Snecma Services plant in Châtellerault, then head of the company’s Repairs division. Olivier Savin joined CFM International (the 50/50 joint company of Safran and GE) in 2008, as Executive Vice President, in charge of the CFM56 and LEAP programs.

* "Green Taxiing" is a new, more ecological system to move airplanes on the ground, using electric motors instead of the plane’s jet engines, which will allow airlines to reduce their fuel consumption by up to 4%. Safran and Honeywell will create a joint venture to develop, produce and sell the electrical green taxiing system, with the aim of providing this system for new aircraft entering service in 2016, as well as retrofitting aircraft already in service.
