Military aircraft

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, the Safran group specialist in landing systems, is a partner on some of today’s most advanced military aircraft.

Messier-Bugatti-Dowty supplies landing gear for a number of combat aircraft, including the Boeing F/A-18 E/F, Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Aviation Mirage and Rafale. It also provides the landing gear for the upcoming A400M military transport aircraft, in partnership with Messier-Bugatti-Dowty.

In further details...

Rafale M Landing Gear

The landing gear designed by Messier-Bugatti-Dowty for the naval version of the Rafale fighter is considered the most advanced of its kind. Both main and nose gear were strengthened to stand up to the demanding conditions of aircraft carrier deck landings and catapult takeoffs. This version is capable of absorbing the energy produced by a vertical descent at a speed of 6.5 meters/second. The nose landing gear on this Rafale integrates the catapult bar (and its operating system), and uses a "jump strut" design to give extra impetus during the catapult launch.
