As a long-standing partner to Airbus and Boeing, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty (Safran group) was selected as supplier of carbon brakes on the two major new-generation widebody commercial jets, the Boeing 787 and the Airbus A350 XWB.
Messier-Bugatti-Dowty provides wheels and carbon brakes for all Airbus models, and for the Boeing 767, 777LR, 787 and 737NG. On Boeing’s latest 787 Dreamliner, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty is supplying an innovative electric brake, the first in commercial aviation. On Boeing’s best-selling Next-Generation 737, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty is today the only company to offer carbon brakes instead of the conventional steel brakes still used on this aircraft. Carbon brakes offer weight savings of up to 320 kg per aircraft, to help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
