The Arriel turboshaft engine family, designed and developed by Turbomeca (Safran group), powers light and medium single and twin-engine helicopters. These turbines and their derivatives equip a number of both civil and military machines.
Since launching the engine in 1979, Turbomeca has developed 28 different versions of the Arriel for 28 types of light and medium helicopters. The Arriel has amply demonstrated its reliability during a wide variety of demanding missions, including offshore, emergency medical service and utility use. Turbomeca has developed two sub-families of the Arriel: Arriel 1 and Arriel 2. They develop takeoff power ranging from 640 to 944 shp (478 to 704 kW). The different models in this range power helicopters such as the Eurocopter Ecureuil, Dauphin, EC130, EC145 and EC155B, the Sikorsky S76 and the Agusta A109K2.
