SaM 146

To meet the specific needs of the regional aviation market, Snecma (Safran group) offers the SaM146, developed in partnership with Russian engine manufacturer NPO Saturn through the joint venture PowerJet.

PowerJet is in charge of managing the engine program, including design, production, sales and support. Developing 14,000 to 17,500 pounds of thrust, the SaM146 can power all versions of a family of aircraft carrying 70 to 120 passengers. In April 2003 it was selected by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft of Russia to power its new regional jet (75 and 95 seat versions), the Superjet 100. The SaM146 features a modern architecture based on long experience with the CFM56 – the most reliable and economical engine in its class – and especially the concept of a single-stage turbine. It is designed to meet the strictest environmental standards, both current and future (CAEP/VI).
