This large turbofan engine was designed and developed by the Engine Alliance joint venture to power the Airbus A380 super-jumbo. Airlines including Air France, Emirates, ILFC, Korean Air, Etihad Airways and Air Austral have already chosen the GP7200 to power their A380s.
Developing 70,000 to 85,000 lb of thrust, the GP7200 is developed and produced by the Engine Alliance, a 50/50 joint venture of General Electric and Pratt & Whitney created specifically for this program. Snecma (Safran group) has a 10% stake in this engine.
