Snecma (Safran group) makes engines for commercial and regional jets. Through CFM International, an equal joint venture with GE, Snecma makes the family of CFM56 turbofan engines for mainline commercial jets. Staying ahead of the curve to meet its customers’ emerging needs, Snecma has teamed up with partner GE to offer the Leap-X – a new-generation jet engine designed to replace the CFM56 that powers current single-aisle commercial jets. In the regional aircraft market, Snecma develops and produces, through PowerJet, an equal subsidiary with NPO Saturn, the SaM146 propulsion system for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 regional jet. Snecma is also developing a new engine for business jets, the Silvercrest. Snecma has strengthened its presence in the large turbofan market by taking a stake in the Engine Alliance GP7200, intended for the A380 super-jumbo jet. Snecma operates a global network of workshops and specialized subsidiaries to provide full maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for its engines. Fellow Group company Techspace Aero designs, develops and produces modules and components for a number of commercial aircraft engines.
