Signing of a framework agreement between Safran and the French Ministry of National Education

On 11 May 2016, Safran and the French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research signed a framework agreement enabling the Group to foster closer ties with the world of education. The aim is to improve the exposure of the Group’s businesses among middle and high school students in order to help them enter professional life while reinforcing the attractiveness of the aerospace sector.
Signature Ministère de l'Education Nationale

Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, French Minister of National Education, Higher Education and Research, and Ross McInnes, Chairman of the Safran Board, signed this agreement, which is valid for a period of three years. "I am extremely proud to sign this agreement, which contributes to the promotion of our professions among young people and helps reinforce the continuity between school and the workplace," stated Ross McInnes.

4 major themes

Every year, a working group will meet to determine a priority action program that will be regularly evaluated and updated. This project is centered on four major themes:

  • Better informing students about aerospace professions (including career opportunities for operatives and production technicians) and advice about how to enter these professions;
  • Strengthening and targeting training courses offered to middle school and high school students, to better adapt them to the real needs of companies;
  • Developing schemes to facilitate internships or apprenticeships for young trainees;
  • Establishing systems of cooperation with the staff of the National Education Ministry to better familiarize them with the expectations of the business environment.

Promoting the professions of the industry among young people

Safran is the third French industrial group after Schneider and PSA, to enter this process of promoting the industrial sector and its professions among young people.

This new agreement is part of the "Youth Policy" to which Safran has committed in recent years, for example with the signing of a European agreement in 2013 to support the professional integration of young people: every year the Group welcomes about 3,000 interns and as many apprentices.

Other initiatives already undertaken by Safran

These commitments in favor of young people are implemented through various initiatives such as the Higher Education Encounters, the establishment of the "Safran Ambassadors", the introduction of Shared Apprenticeship Programs in partnership with GIFAS or the sponsorship of students from low-income backgrounds through the Frateli Association. Another annual initiative Safran undertakes is to invite middle or high school teachers to Group sites as part of the "Teachers in Business", designed for teachers to find out more about how companies work.
