Safran and CFM take center stage at Airbus Awards

On May 14 last in Toulouse, Airbus presented its best performer award to CFM International<sup>*</sup> and its best improver award for 2013 to Aircelle, during a day of events organized by the airframer for its suppliers and partners.

A few weeks after being named Boeing Propulsion Supplier of the Year, CFM was distinguished by Airbus for its good performances in the areas of quality and supply chain. This new trophy highlights the punctuality of deliveries and the very high quality of the CFM56-5B engines, in a context of increased production volume.

CFM International, best performance

"This historic trend at Airbus is an endorsement for the excellent work being done by the Snecma and GE teams", declared Cédric Goubet, executive vice president of CFM. "This award also highlights all the progress we have made in terms of quality, production rates and industrialization. It gives us great satisfaction to be recognized by our two major customers". Not forgetting the Chinese airframer Comac, which named CFM best development engine supplier for the LEAP-1C, which will equip the C919 single-aisle aircraft.

Best improvement for Aircelle

For its part, Aircelle received the "Best Improver" award for its performances in supplying A380 nacelles. This trophy recognizes the ongoing efforts since 2010 to improve the quality of its supply chain and delivery performances, as well as the company's strong commitment to continuous improvement. "This award symbolizes the trust that has developed between our two groups, which is now a solid foundation on which we can build our common future," pointed out Martin Sion, Chairman and CEO of Aircelle In his speech at the awards ceremony.

Two innovative Safran projects distinguished

Airbus has also distinguished two innovative Safran projects. The "Be number One" project, which features on Snecma's strategic map, received a distinction on the basis of innovations integrated into the assembly line. As for Aircelle, it was distinguished for its "Averna" warning system, that informs immediately the support team by a text message.
